The Steeped Leaf Tea Lounge & Café was born from a deep passion for tea, mindfulness, and authentic community connection. Founded by Tammy Martinez, a Certified Tea Specialist with over two decades of experience in San Antonio, The Steeped Leaf is more than just a place to enjoy tea — it is a sanctuary where tradition meets intention.
Tammy’s journey began with a love for the rich cultural heritage of tea and a desire to create a space that honors its history while inviting guests into a calm, mindful experience. Drawing from her formal training and lived experience, she envisioned a lounge that blends organic loose-leaf teas with educational programming and thoughtful guest service.
As Tammy delved deeper into the origins and cultural nuances of tea, she realized something was missing in many modern tea experiences: authentic representation. She set out to honor each culture’s unique tea traditions by serving teas with mindfulness and cultural authenticity.
Nestled within a boutique mall of over 200 small businesses, The Steeped Leaf has grown into a beloved community hub. Every detail, from the carefully curated tea selections to the warm, inclusive atmosphere, reflects Tammy’s commitment to authenticity and cultural respect.

Meet The Owner
I have always been a lover of tea and the way it made me feel as I tossed up my pinky to take a sip, but the more I have delved into the history, the culture and the many nuances of loose leaf tea I have learned to admire and appreciate all of the many hands who've labored to bring us these beautiful leaves. Today as I take a sip my heart is filled with gratitude for the ability to enjoy all the beautiful infusions and sweet aromas of the teas that fill my cup.
